MICHIGAN WE ARE ON OUR WAY....STERLING STATE PARKK MONROE, MI

This is my first time travelling to the mid west.  It was nice to break up the trip 5+5 hours.  We decided to stay at Sterling State Park in Monroe MI, 30 mins away from our son's home in the Detroit suburbs.   http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=497&type=SPRK  I really like Sterling State park.  It is a nice RV park if you can ignore the coal burning plant that is as the base of the park.  Well what do you expect it's outside of a major city.  My husband a retired electrical engineer assured me the smoke being admitted from the stacks was water vapor.  The campsite sits on the shore of Lake Erie....there are some strong breezes in the evenings which is why the fire pits are sunken down and have a higher cement wall.  There are several boat launches, nature trails, fishing docks and pet friendly.  If you like to bike, skateboard, roller blade, walk or jog this place is awesome has asphalt paved pathways through out.  Our campsite has full hook up and is a pull through.  I would stay here again if we come back to visit our son here in Michigan.  The campground has a beach with beautiful tall trees, there are no life guards so swimming is at your own discretion.  I would love to come back next spring to visit my son and then go tour northern MI.
